Why is LeadOutcome sending my emails from another email address?

To cut down on the amount of spam, almost all major email providers have implemented a DMARC policy that requires an SPF record to be added to the sending domain in order to deliver emails that have been sent by a 3rd party.

What that means is:
LeadOutcome, nor any other marketing email provider, can send emails on your behalf until you have authorized us to do so.

This was put in place to prevent another party that isn't you from sending emails on your behalf and sending out spam or phishing emails. You wouldn't want your competitor sending emails out on your behalf now, would you? This policy prevents something like that from happening.

What that means for you is that you must authorize the email marketing provider to send on your behalf. Until you do so, your emails will likely end up in the recipient's spam folder, if it even got that far.

So, in order to prevent that from happening, we use one of our sending email domains as the 'from' information to ensure your email gets delivered. When the recipient clicks Reply however, the Reply To information set in the email headers (something you don't see in the standard UI) is yours and so you will receive whatever reply they send.

In order to update your SPF record, simpy contact your email provider (GoDaddy, Host Gator, Blue Host, etc.) and let them know you need to update your SPF record to authorize an email provider to send on your behalf. Provide them this info for the two TXT file records:    "v=spf1 ~all"     "v=DMARC1; p=none"

where 'yourdomain.extension.' translates to something such as: (period at the end is imperative).

That is all you need. Once set, you can send emails from LeadOutcome and not worry about them going into spam or being send from one of our sending domains.
